Blood Donation Camp in Dehradun Sees Over 80 Donors, 150 Free Medical Consultations

From A Correspondent

Dehradun, May 31

Humanity came alive as over 80 people donated blood and another 150 sought medical advice from the team of doctors of the Mehant Indresh Hospital at the free Blood Donation and Medical Advice Camp organized by the local Parshad (Municipal Councilor), Alok.

The camp, held at Ward 72 of the Dehradun Municipal Corporation, was formally inaugurated and blessed by the Haridwar BJP Member of Parliament and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat. Moving and interacting in his own smiling style, Mr. Rawat met almost every donor, patient, and their family members present. Nutritious snacks were made available both at the venue and at Mr. Alok’s office next door.

Highlighting the benefits of blood donation as “Rakt Daan Maha Daan,” Mr. Rawat expressed hope that more such camps would be organized by others like Mr. Alok and his team.

The former Mayor, Mr. Sunil Uniyal Gamma; Mr. Naresh Kumar; Dr. Guru Prasad; Ms. Sheela Thakur; Ms. Poonam Kaur; Ms. Vyjanti Mala; Ms. Poonam-1; Ms. Preeti Shrivastava, Social Media Head of the BJP Mahila Morcha; Dr. Rakesh Khanduri; and senior BJP leader Mr. Rajiv Uniyal were among those present.

A rather special invitee was C. K. Chandramohan, who worked with The Himachal Times and later graduated to The Hindu (Delhi and Chennai), where he functioned as a one-man bureau throughout his career. Expressing happiness over the successful conduct of the blood donation camp, he hoped that municipal members across the country would emulate Mr. Alok’s hardworking model.

Mr. Chandramohan is also the President of the Lord Venkateshwara Balaji Devasthanam Trust, Dehradun, registered with the concerned authorities in Dehradun. The Trust plans to facilitate the construction of a grand Lord Venkateshwara Temple, complete with a gaushala and yogshala. The Tirupati-type temple coming up here speaks volumes about the socio-economic and religious importance that this northern part of the country is expected to gain. Perhaps the biggest Shiv-bhakt of our times—the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and the Home Minister, lovingly referred to as Mota Bhai, along with others, are listening.

Mr. Nilesh Palkhiwala, a visitor from Maharashtra, congratulated Mr. Alok for undertaking such a noble act to mark his birthday.
